The Series I Binge Read This Summer

TATBILB Review Header

Hello book lovers! Another week, another catch-up review. I have recently been finding it hard to balance my bookish social media and reading due to me getting so into my recent reads so apologies for the inconsistency. I know that sounds crazy seeing as I am on summer break still so I SHOULD be taking advantage of that fact but instead my body seems to be choosing sleep when I do want to be productive, which is not necessarily a bad thing as a university student currently on break. With that being said, I am returning to uni next week with classes starting the week after so I plan on creating a schedule to time out everything and truly make the most of my final year. Yay for only having two days of classes…?  Continue reading “The Series I Binge Read This Summer”

You Need to Read This Book.

The Hate U Give Review

Hello book lovers! Long time no see! I took quite a long break from here due to being in the (very) long process of moving AND having a two-week internship  at Hachette in London (which I will write a post about in the near future) so taking photos, notes, and finding the time to write while juggling all of the craziness and my current reading kick clearly did not work out. However, seeing as I have been reading like crazy, I have so many book reviews to catch up on for you guys and I am so excited – I have had some really good luck with my book choices this summer which means positive content and an encouraged reader (who may or may not be about to fall into a reading slump due to running low on good books but fingers crossed this does not happen as reading is currently my sanity). I Couldn’t Put This Book Down.

Book Review Title

Hello book lovers! Guess who is FINALLY catching up on her growing review pile – this girl! I have been flying through books these past few weeks and yet it some how just hit me that I haven’t been writing any reviews lately – and I need to for the majority that I have read because either I loved them and/or I have a lot to say about them. Thankfully today’s is a read that caught me surprise and I absolutely loved it. I COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN! Continue reading “I Couldn’t Put This Book Down.”

Summer Book Club: Jumping on the Bandwagon

Book Club Title 7

Hello book lovers! Life has been a bit crazy lately but I finally found the time to work on my blog which means me finally feeling happy with it and ready to focus on my summer posts. Hooray! As those of you who follow me on Instagram (@papercupsandpaperbacks) may already know, I have decided to run a summer book club. I got a really good response from all of you guys on Instagram when I ran a poll which showed me that this truly would be fun and a great idea to keep me on schedule with all of my accounts this summer.  Continue reading “Summer Book Club: Jumping on the Bandwagon”

And So My Love For Sylvia Plath Begins

The Bell Jar Review Title

Hello book lovers! Today’s review is for the first classic that I have read this year and boy did I love it. I needed to read a book for my creative writing course that discussed depression in a way that current books don’t so I took a leap by selecting The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I have been wanting to read this book for a while and went into it barely knowing anything about the plot. It did turn my stomach at times but I fell right into it and couldn’t stop reading it whenever I had the time to. I could have easily flown through it in a matter of days but darn university for making it take eleven days – which isn’t TOO bad… right?

(Weird) Ways I Survive the Stress of University

Surviving University Title

Hello book lovers! Today I thought that I would do a bit of a lifestyle discussion after sharing a very stressful night of research for a paper on my Instagram and getting a number of followers requesting that I do this type of blog post. I am currently in my second year of university with my courses being fully project and paper based rather than exams. As good as that is for me, as I am not the best test taker, the short period of time that we get given or lack of guidance is more often than not absolutely overwhelming. Hence why I feel like I have now found a great system (half way through my second year) that helps me survive the chaos. I realise that obviously not all of these will work for everyone but it’s always helpful to hear other people’s tips that you have perhaps not tried before. The Book That I Read in Only Three Days

Call Me Review Title .png

Hello book lovers! I am posting this review over 48 hours after finishing the book and I AM STILL NOT OKAY!! I finally gave in to buying this book on World Book Day, because I obviously had to celebrate it that way, and boy do I not know how it took me so long to pick it up! I first heard about Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman when the trailer was released last year as it was being shown in film festivals. It caught my attention right away with its artsy and travel vibes so once I found out that it was originally a book, I was ecstatic. Continue reading “The Book That I Read in Only Three Days”

Review: Rookie on Love, Edited by Tavi Gevinson

RookieOnLove_BlogBanner.jpg

Hello book lovers! I am finally writing a review for my first ever blog tour! I was sent this book by Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin Random House. How exciting! I am a bit late on this due to it getting lost in the mail but I am still so thankful for this amazing opportunity. I am hoping to film a review/discussion on my booktube channel soon (once I am no longer ill) so be sure to watch out for it!  Continue reading “Review: Rookie on Love, Edited by Tavi Gevinson”

An Unforgettable Day at Hachette

Hachette Visit Title.png

Hello book lovers! Today is a bit of a different post but that is because I had an incredible, unforgettable, and life-changing experience a few weeks ago and have finally found the time to share it with you.

On Wednesday, 07 February, I went to the Hachette publishing house in London with my university’s publishing degree students to have a three-hour visit. Now before I get into all of the things that made me fall even more in love and eager to have a career in publishing, let’s just enjoy this photo of me which completely sums up my entire day. I almost cried three times, no joke. Continue reading “An Unforgettable Day at Hachette”
